Fishing licence sales in England and Wales are up for the second year running, according to the Environment Agency.

In 2024/25, the EA says it sold 934,000 a total of licences, up significantly from 910,973 in 2023/24.

The organisation says this equates to 832,449 unique licenced anglers in England, which is also up from 813,599 anglers in 2023/24.

As a result, licence sales brought in revenue totalling some £24.15 million, which is not only great news for angling but also for the environment.

With more people fishing this is bringing in extra income which supports fantastic work to maintain and improve fisheries. It also helps fund vital work to enable everyone to access fishing and its benefits.
