Networking, key presentations on the state of the tackle trade and a glittering industry awards lunch are just some of the highlights of the inaugural UK Angling Summit, taking place on November 19th in Birmingham.
The free-to-attend event, which is designed to bring together the entire industry – manufacturers, brands, distributors, retailers, fisheries and angling providers – will be held at the Arden Hotel, Bickenhill, Birmingham.
It will kick off at 8am with networking opportunity before participants will enjoy an overview of the industry from the organisers, the Angling Trades Association.
Presentations will come from the Environment Agency, European tackle trade experts, fishery owners, information on National Fishing Month and the Take A Friend Fishing initiatives plus a special talk from James Simpson from the England Cricket Board, outlining the work it has done to encourage more people into the sport.
Bauer Media will be hosting its popular industry awards and there will be a networking lunch included too, allowing manufacturers and brand owners to connect with retailers, fishery owners and key stakeholders such as the Canal & River Trust, Environment Agency, European Fishing Tackle Trade Association and the Angling Trust.
One important feature of the event will be panel discussions involving all attendees on retail and the retailing sector as well as fisheries topics, a think tank session and the launch of the UK Angling and Angler Survey, which will cover trade and consumers alike.
The day will conclude at 5pm, allowing attendees to get home in good time although there will be the opportunity to stay on and catch up in the bar afterwards.
ATA chair Andrew Race said: “The UK Angling Summit is an unprecedented opportunity for the whole tackle trade to come together, discuss issues and swap ideas, learn about the latest industry data and unpack how we can all encourage more participation and uncover more profitable opportunities as well as celebrating many of our success stories.
“We really hope it will help us understand some of the challenges we face, bring out ideas on how to grow our sport and support each other as well as connecting people from every sector of the industry.
“This is just the start, we want this to be an annual event which will deliver valuable insights into the industry, while allowing everyone a chance to have their say on how we can shape the future of our businesses and angling in general.”
