Narborough Fisheries, a picturesque 26-acre site in West Norfolk, is investing in its campsite to provide better amenities including enhanced fishing facilities.

Located between King’s Lynn and Swaffham, the venue has reported a 50 per cent increase in bookings for this spring so far via holiday sites such as Pitchup.com, campsites.co.uk and Visit West Norfolk

Co-owner Eric Smith revealed: “We are finding that pitch bookings have started to flood in for the start to the season via these sites. We think that that this is partly to do with the UK’s growing obsession with fishing and wildlife breaks and people are seeking out the best venues with west Norfolk being at the top of many people’s wish-list.

“It is for this reason that we are investing in the future of the centre – our aim is continue building on the success we have had here so far. It’s one of the jewels in the crown of West Norfolk!

“Our message is: bring your camera, binoculars and/or fishing tackle and relax in the beauty of the Narborough countryside. It’s good for everyone’s mental health to be close to nature.”

Alongside upgraded campsite amenities, the investment has seen the arrival of a new fly fishing shelter to allow for changes in the weather.

Eric added: “With challenges in the Middle East people are looking more to the UK than usual for summer and weekend breaks particularly as the economy is being so affected by the fuel price increases – and that’s without mentioning the problems with airport security delays!”

Narborough Fisheries’ five lakes offer a mix of fishing with one trout lake (Meadow Lake), a specimen carp wate (Millers Lake), a general mixed couarse lake (Foresters Lake), and a general match and coarse water (Ashford Lake) with over 9,000 fish.

The well-maintained lakes include 18 lakeside pitches, all on hardstanding with 16-amp hook-ups and easy-to-access facilities – with a newly-constructed fly-fishing shelter.

The fisheries have also recently seen new amenities including improved shower and toilet facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for campers and anglers alike. These upgrades are aimed at accommodating the growing number of visitors seeing a relaxing countryside escape.

A venue record 40lb carp was caught in Millers lake last year and Tom Cowlard at Narborough Fisheries said: “We have added a brand-new trout shelter for our fly-fishing visitors to the centre, and this will be very popular with the changeable weather we get in the UK that can sometimes make fly fishing a little less comfortable than course fishing where umbrellas can be used. Feedback from our regulars is, while wet weather gear is available, they would be pleased to be able to benefit from some protection from the elements.”
