Key Angling Trades Association initiatives including National Fishing Month and Take A Friend Fishing have been highlighted in the 2022/23 National Angling Strategy.

The schemes – owned by the ATA and backed by a number of its members – have been championed as crucial elements in the drive to grow angling throughout the UK, along with its Get Into Fishing concept at The Game Fair during the summer.

While the report, produced by the Environment Agency, notes the drop in fishing licence sales from the high achieved during the onset of Covid-19, it also praises the efforts of a wide range of groups, organisations and individuals undertaking many efforts throughout the community to get people into fishing, keep them fishing and provide all the necessary infrastructure that surrounds angling.
